  1 - Elastic cartilage, 2 - Perichondrium, 3 - Mucinous part of seromucinous gland, 4 - Serous part of seromucinous gland, 5 - Connective tissue of tunica mucosa, 6 - Stratifeid squamous epithelium 
Lingual surface of epiglottis is covered by startified squamous epithelium. Beneath it are, in connective tissue, seromucinous glands. "Skelet" of epiglottis is formed by elastic cartilage.
